
Pointe Claire lies in that tranquil part of Montreal's West Island. People unfamiliar with the term generally believe that it's an distinct island that lies west of Montreal In reality, it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in the city of Lachine west. It is often cited as the place where Amanda Brugel was born. Amanda Brugel, but while this is the case it was not her home. Her time in the city was infrequent. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa. She hoped to be an instructor in her first year however, due to an explosive growth rate, she surpassed her dancing partners. According to an article from the Toronto Star, she confessed, "In heels I am 6 foot 1 inch." As soon as I reached the height of my male dancers I was dancing with, I decided to quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school that led her to take a step in the proper direction. The teacher suggested that she take on a part in the annual school production. The teacher suggested she try out for a role in the school's annual production. In the end, she was given the role of Anne of Green Gables. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000.In the more than 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions both on small and big screens. Her most notable role attracted notice when she won the part of Rita on the award-winning TV series, The Handmaid's Tale
